Sonar is very excited to announce the new SonarQube Server LTA is coming in January 2025!
Everyone has patiently awaited this LTA, and it's finally here! This release is feature-packed with benefits for every user, whether you’re a developer, engineering lead, DevOps engineer, or security and compliance engineer.
What is the SonarQube Server LTA, and why is it so important?
The SonarQube Server LTA (formerly known as LTS) packs everything we’ve added to the product since the previous SonarQube Server 9.9 LTA. Additionally, we spent a few cycles hardening so you can be sure running the server is as solid and stable as possible. We strongly recommend you stay current by upgrading to the latest LTA because the 9.9 LTA will no longer be actively supported six months after the new LTA is released.
Also, we’re making a few new changes to SonarQube Server. We’re changing our versioning scheme to include the year and the release number. In other words, the new version will be SonarQube Server 2025 Release 1 LTA (abbreviated to 2025.1). The version after that, when we release it two months later, will be SonarQube Server 2025 Release 2, and so on. Saving the best news for last, we are changing our LTA release cadence to every 12 months instead of 18 months to deliver new innovations to you more frequently. That’s right, you’ll get a new LTA every year!
